Vesak commemorates the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and death.
In 1999, the UN recognized international Vesak Day to acknowledge the contribution that Buddhism has made for over 2500 years. This year, the official UN celebration day is Sunday May 19th.
So…this Tuesday, immediately following our meditation period, Bellingham Insight will join with others around the world in recognition and appreciation of the Buddha and his teachings. We will recite the refuges and the precepts. We will also have a chance to reflect on the Buddhist teachings, teachers and friends who have been supportive of our practice. We will finish around 8 PM
(Note: we don’t have a scheduled program this Tuesday).
