In support of cultivating mindfulness of postures and activities, the subjects of chapters 8 & 9 that we will discuss the following week in book group, Art Baner will lead us through an introduction to mindfulness and Qigong. He teaches Tai Chi and Qigong next door in the Majestic Building. We were inspired by the last non-residential retreat, and the practices Tim introduced, to invite Art.
No prior experience is necessary. Following our tradition, we will ask for dana to support the teacher.
Tuesday March 3rd, 8-9 PM.

Qigong is similar to Tai Chi, but is non-martial. It focuses on smooth movement, deep relaxation, breathing, and clear attention to produce inner and outer benefits.
In practice, Qigong involves the study and application of certain natural principles and how through their use we can realize higher states of our own true nature.
FIVE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES ARE THE FOLLOWING:
Balanced Posture
Conscious Breathing
Dynamic Relaxation
Mental and Emotional Focus
Coordinated Movement
These principles, and others, work together to strengthen and refine our chi circulation and the more subtle energy fields that surround us. It is an effective, enjoyable, and creative way to deepen our relationship with our higher human qualities while producing significant health benefits in the process.
