Welcoming Sangha

Bellingham Insight strives to be a welcoming and inclusive sangha for all people. We have embarked on a program of trainings and reflection designed to help us uncover hidden biases that may hinder our efforts at creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for people of all races and gender identities.

Below are resources from a training workshop presented to BIMS by Kim Harris on "Privilege and Inclusion."

Readings and books:

  • Blind Spot by Mahzarin Banaji and Anthony Greenwald
  • Privilege, Power and Difference by Allan Johnson
  • Privilege: A Reader, edited by Michael S. Kimmer and Abby L. Ferber
  • White Privilege: Essential Readings on the Other Side of Racism by Paul Rothneberg
  • "Explaining White Privilege to a Broke White Person" by Gina Crosley-Corcoran (online blog)
  • colorlines.com (website)
